LOOKING FOR VIPERS
High performance equipment is essential when heading off on expeditions. In my case, as a naturalist photographer, when people talk about kit it is easy to simply focus on the equipment I use for photography purposes. However, other kit, such as clothing and footwear is just as vital as it’s important that I am kept warm, dry and ultimately comfortable whilst trekking in difficult surroundings and on tough terrain, such as slippery stones or wading through water and mud.
My footwear of choice is the AKU KS SCHWER 14 GTX which I wear on every adventure I undertake. My latest, for example, was a weekend in the wildest part of the Dolomiti Bellunesi searching for vipers. Designed to cope with tough terrain in all weathers I’ve found the AKU KS Schwer 14 GTX mountain boot extremely comfortable, durable and stable. The Gore-Tex lining keeps my feet dry and the Vibram sole provides reassuring grip.
I’ve been a fan of AKU for many years. Based in Montebelluna in Northern Italy AKU produces excellent products for all types of outdoor activity from an easy forest walk to the most demanding excursions on challenging terrain.
Impassioned by nature and the animal world, Ivan began his career in naturalistic photography in 2010. Ivan started his career photographing wild fauna and the habitats in Valbelluna and the National Park of the Dolomiti Bellunesi where he was born and raised. Since then his travels have taken him far and wide to places such as Malawi, Zambia, Switzerland, Finland and Brazil, to name a few.
