Discovering bivouac Fanton

This is the story of a high mountain bivouac that, due to bad weather, was dropped in 1963 by a military helicopter in Val Baion (1750 m), rather than on the Marmarole saddle (2660 m), in the Dolomites of Cadore. The Auronzo section of the Italian Alpine Club, owner of the bivouac Fanton, decided that the now dilapidated building will be dismantled. In its place, but almost a thousand feet higher, on the site where it was originally to be located, the new bivouac Fanton will be built: a building of sustainable contemporary architecture, designed through an international competition.
