Elio Bonfanti

Elio Bonfanti was born in Turin in 1961. He is currently a national mountaineering instructor, a free-climbing instructor and a member of the inter-regional L.P.V. commission.
He was a member of the alpin Ice Tour Team and has been engaged in mountaineering activities since 1978.
He has to his credit several first repetitions as well as the opening up of many new outdoor rock climbs and glacier routes.
His passion for this sport has taken him not only all over the alps, but also to Wadi Rum, the peruvian Andes, Madagascar, Canada and Norway.

I like to think of this activity, which I do in my spare time, as being highly varied. I don't mind whether I will be climbing up a rock face or a glacier tomorrow or simply going on a superb trek.
It is undeniably important be active, to learn and to know oneself, put oneself to the test, but a sunset, the swooping low flight of a bird of prey or the refreshing high mountain air are things that for me are essential for enjoying a full and satisfying life
